With 22 member companies and 4 cargo agencies, the participation of Colombian floriculture in 2016 Hortiflorexpo fair concluded in Beijing, China.
At the close of 2014 China imported USD 26 million fresh cut flowers, with Thailand, with USD12 million principal provider market, followed by the Netherlands (USD4,8 million), Ecuador (USD 3.8 million) Vietnam (USD800 thousand) and Kenya (USD800 thousand). Colombian exports to this market in the country ranks sixth as the supplier achieved in the same period USD700 thousand. Given the growth of flower imports by China, which rose from USD 15 million in 2010 to USD 26 million mentioned in 2015, Colombian floriculture expects to increase its market share in the Asian giant.
The trade agenda will continue on Monday, May 16, 2016 with a visit to Shanghai where besides visiting the free zone a meeting with Chinese importers will be held.
